Because we plan to do a lot of travel, our goal is to get a truck that will stand up to whatever we can throw at it. Having owned a total of 2 trucks in my entire life (one Toyota and one Ford), I am not particular about the brand. We are planning on getting a long bed, one-ton truck with a diesel engine and dual rear wheels. If I had to pick favorites, I’d say a Ford F-350 and a Ram 3500 are the top 2 (in no particular order).
Updated July 8, 2020 – We finally bit the bullet and bought our truck! We ended up getting a Ram 3500 crew cab long bed 4×4 with the 6.7L I6 Cummins HO Turbo Diesel engine and dual rear wheels. All in all, a truck capable of pulling two of our RVs. I’m pretty sure there isn’t such a thing as overkill in this area…
