As we are adjusting to life in an RV, we have chosen to make a few improvements. These are defined as improvements entirely in the eyes of the beholder:

  • Improved the comfort of the master bed, twice. In advance of purchasing our RV, I ordered a queen size 3″ memory foam topper for the master bed. We have a rather expensive memory foam bed that we’ve become used to sleeping on, so I wanted to get as close as I could to that experience in the RV. However, when I opened the box and threw the topper on the bed, I soon realized that our RV came with a king size bed…I promptly ordered a king size topper so I wouldn’t have to suffer without my memory foam. Oh, and I ordered these both from TempurPedic, as that is the brand of our bed.
  • Raised the stock price of Command Brand by at least a few dollars. We have used a lot of Command Brand products to attach everything to our RV. The only things we have attached with screws (so far) have been fans in the bedrooms (so they were off the floor) and our Nest Protect alarms (the kids have become fond of them).
  • Replaced the dining chairs with benches. After using the chairs for a couple of weeks, we decided that benches would be a better use of the space. We ended up ordering a couple of them from Home Depot. We donated our original 4 chairs to Goodwill.
  • Found the perfect garbage can, twice. The first garbage can we bought for our kitchen was just too small. We needed the space under the sink for storing things like pet food, so we wanted a slim garbage can that could sit next to the island. Our second garbage can purchase was from Simple Human, and we love it.
  • Ordered a fan for the fridge. When we were experiencing the fridge issues, I read online that RV fridges tend to have cooler spots and warmer spots. A fan was recommended to help even out the temperature. It is also supposed to reduce the time it takes to cool down items freshly placed in the fridge. I figured it was a worthwhile investment, even if I have no way to prove it is helping.

As you can probably tell, we are doing this through the process of trial an error. We will post more “improvements” as events warrant.
