I expect to have 5 dollars in the bank for the last few days of this month. While I normally don’t like to intentionally let our bank account balance get that low, it is by design this month. Specifically, we are paying off a couple of debts this month, and that, combined with Christmas, will cause the low balance. You can read more about this initiative on my personal blog, here.
In order to get our monthly expenses low enough to support our new lifestyle, we need to get rid of a lot of unnecessary debt. This month will see the end of our small debts (those which can be paid off in a short period of time). We still have a couple of larger credit balances that will take most of next year to get rid of. But, these last two should get our monthly expenses where we want them to be.
After this, we just need to save up a bit more money for the RV purchase, and our adventures can really begin. We have been downsizing our stuff for the past few months, and I think the kids have finally gotten into the spirit. Of course, their reactions on Christmas morning will truly tell us if we have succeeded.
We have now paid off the 2 credit cards we planned on paying off this month. We have, however, gone a little over budget on Christmas gifts…hey, 1 out of 2 isn’t bad!
